Definitions

Donor/Volunteer: A person or organization that has entered into a service or giving relationship with RFJ.

Cookies: Small pieces of information stored by your browser on your device’s hard drive.

Collection of Data

RFJ does not collect your identity or contact information simply from your visit to our website. When you visit, your computer connects through an Internet Protocol (IP) address, which our servers automatically log.

Our website may use cookies to help with navigation, data entry, and preference tracking. Cookies allow you to avoid logging in more than once per session. You can disable cookies in your browser settings and still use our site, though some features may be limited.

No information is collected from your device to build a unique profile of you. RFJ does not use cookies for user profiling. RFJ only receives your email address when you voluntarily provide it through our website.

Log Files

Like most websites, RFJ uses log files. These include IP addresses, browser types, internet service providers, referring and exit pages, platform types, date and time stamps, and click counts. This data is used in aggregate to analyze trends and improve the site. It is not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use & Disclosure of Data

RFJ does not sell or rent personally identifying information. We do not disclose it to any party we are not authorized to share it with.

When you complete a transaction on our website, such as making a donation, registering for an event, or signing up to volunteer, only RFJ and, where a cash payment is involved, our credit card processors have access to your personal information.

RFJ will send an email receipt for all cash transactions. You may print these for your records.

RFJ reserves the right to release information if required to do so by a court or government authority. Any such disclosure will be limited to only what is legally required. All data processing occurs in the United States.

Security Measures

RFJ has implemented technology, security features, and internal guidelines to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. We will continue to update our security practices as technology evolves.

Access to donor and volunteer data is protected by password and is limited to RFJ staff who need it to do their jobs. Each donor or volunteer is responsible for keeping their own account password confidential.

RFJ and our credit card processors use Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES), a 168-bit encryption method used by federal government agencies to protect sensitive data. We periodically back up all data, with multiple copies stored securely.

Donor & Volunteer Privacy

RFJ does not share personally identifiable information about donors or volunteers with anyone outside the organization. This applies to all transactions, including cash and non-cash donations, volunteering, planned giving, event registration, and mailing list signups.

All personal information provided during account creation is retained and used by RFJ solely to serve you. You may view or update your information at any time.

Online Intake

Information provided during our legal services intake process is used only to determine your eligibility for services and to contact you if you qualify. RFJ will never sell, share, trade, or disclose any information provided during intake.

Email & Communications

RFJ does not send unsolicited email or spam. We will not read or disclose private email communications transmitted through RFJ services, except as required to operate the service or as otherwise authorized by law.

For cash transactions, RFJ will send an email receipt that may be used for tax purposes.
